Psychology has as much usefulness in retail as it does in criminology and in psychiatry. The customer, for instance, can be profiled through various techniques so that retailers can know how to treat them after-sales. Psychology, in other words, is important in direct mail marketing by simply identifying customer behavior allowing retailers to customize their after-sales offers appropriately.
Of course, psychology drives a big part of product packaging particularly in conceptualization and design. Remember, your product packaging is the final step in your advertising efforts. Coming up with a very effective product package design is crucial and can make or break your sales figures.
Covering a book with paper protects the hardcover from wear and tear. If you just don’t like to use plastic wrap or fabric covers to cover your books, then a paper bag is a great alternative, and is also environmentally friendly. Using a brown paper bag also allows you to personalize the cover with your own designs and decorations. With just scissors, tape, and some creative folding, you can cover any book.
It’s high time that you think about how you can improve or how you can introduce the concept of sustainability to your retail outlet. There are lots of benefits that you can enjoy from such an endeavor, including lowered power bills and an improved public relations image.
Think about it – your competitors are probably head over heels to convince your target market that they are friendly to the environment? Do you want to get left behind? Of course not, so bear in mind these simple and inexpensive ways of making your retail store more sustainable in the long run.
Influence Your Customers to Get Rid of One-Use Plastic Bags
Encourage your customers to lessen their use of plastic by introducing reusable shopping bags at your store. Train your sales personnel to — politely, of course — suggest using reusable shopping bags when checking out, and incentive your customers by offering discounts or freebies to those who bring their own shopping bags on their next trip to your store.
Upcycling is totally in right now, and more people are choosing to repurpose items rather than simply recycling them. You can make all sorts of things out of paper and paper bags, including planters. They are easy to make, and once you know the basics, you can make them in all sorts of sizes! If you add some contact paper, you can even make yours waterproof so that it will last longer.
Retailers have faced a lot of challenges with the advent of e-commerce websites. This technology has evened out the playing field, especially for small and medium enterprises or SMEs.
For the first time, retailers can start a store up without putting up too high a capital. They have no physical outlet to take care of, so they have lower operating expenses than brick-and-mortar SMEs. Plus, on the customer side, they — apparently — offer convenience and privacy in shopping.
However, that doesn’t mean brick-and-mortar stores cannot compete well with e-commerce stores like eBay, Amazon, Shopify and so many others. There are many ways that retail outlets can fight back, in a figurative sense, against these obstacles to profits and success.
Ever since Amazon and eBay came into the scene a couple of decades ago, e-commerce has slowly but consistently edged itself into the consciousness of the buying consumer. However, even though e-commerce has indeed innovated impressively to transform itself, it is still unable to achieve what brick-and-mortar stores have naturally at their disposal.
Fans of both offline and online shopping can spend days debating on the benefits of both platforms without coming to a solid conclusion. What’s undeniable, however, are the four aspects in which physical retail outlets enjoy advantages that online stores do not.
Opportunity for Personalized Customer Service
Being human as they are, and with humans being social animals at heart, customers really appreciate intimate interaction. That’s what online stores don’t have that physical outlets have aplenty. With a physical store, retailers and their sales staff have the unique advantage of being able to cater to their customers’ needs, right when they need it.
Better yet, because they can personally interact with customers, the sales people of the physical retail stores can tailor each individual customer’s experience to fit their unique preferences..
If you have a few paper bags lying around somewhere, here’s how to put them to good use!
Today Jillee will be sharing all of her very favorite ways to use brown paper bags, so you can see just how useful these bags can still be!
Here are 5 brilliant and useful things you can do with a classic brown paper bag.
Clean Windows Tear open a paper bag, bunch it up, and use it to clean your windows! Many people swear by using paper bags or newspaper to clean their mirrors and windows, because the paper leaves behind a lint- and streak-free shine!
2. Collect Recycling I always hang on to my paper grocery store bags to use to collect my recycling. When the bag gets full, I can take the whole bag to the recycling center without having to transfer it in or out of another container.
3. Collect Compost Speaking of collecting things, another great way to use paper bags is to collect items for your compost pile. Then when you take it out to your compost pile, you can shred the paper bag up and toss it in right in too! (Smaller pieces of paper bag will break down faster, so make sure to tear it up into small pieces if you can!)
4. Arts & Crafts Cut open a few paper bags and use them for art projects like drawing and painting. Or you can use them to protect your tabletop from messy projects like DIY projects, egg dyeing, or pumpkin carving.
5. Ripen Fruit Faster You can quickly ripen some kinds of fruits by storing them in a paper bag! This works for bananas, tomatoes, pears, peaches, avocados, and more. Just place the fruit inside, roll the top of the bag closed, and let it sit on your counter for a day or two. Fruit releases ethylene gas over time, and the paper bag will trap the gas inside which will cause it to ripen faster. (This won’t work in a plastic bag, because plastic will also trap in moisture and cause the fruit to rot.)
These tissue paper clothespin butterflies are easy to make, but they’ll provide your toddler with lots of fine motor development, sensory fun and an all-time favourite activity – stamping!

Branding is one aspect of business that, sadly, many entrepreneurs fail to invest time and money in. For many entrepreneurs, the immediate goal on their minds is to sustain a good sales margin at the early days of their venture. As such, they often ignore marketing and the value of creating a reliable brand in the eyes of their target market.
To avoid this mistake, it’s important to understand the role branding plays in the management and marketing of a retail chain.
Branding Is the Representation of the Company Being unique is what every company should strive for. Without it, a business is but a copycat of existing brands.
All you need to do is just identify the areas in your retail store that you want to go digital and you can take it from there!.
Inventory consumes the most amount of paper supplies in retail, and it’s only fitting that you upgrade your inventory tracking systems by replacing paper with a digital solution. Here’s one way that you can pull this off – purchase a dedicated tablet or even a smartphone that your crew can use for your inventory system. What you can then is install an app that uses a centralized database, so it’s easy for your inventory crew to update your inventory information accurately and in a timely manner.
